Delicious baked beans this Recipe

Baked beans are a very popular side dish in our house. It is something we make a lot of times with many meals such as, burgers, hot dogs, ham, grilled chicken, ribs, and brisket.

Usually, we use a can of beans already prepared, or we doctor up some beans that also come from a can on the stove. These use canned beans as well, but they are plain as well. We add many mix-ins and, for a change of pace, smoke them on the grill. These smoked BBQ beans are great to put on the smoker when you are already smoking some meat on it.

Heating up the beans

We add some jalapenos for heat. You can lessen the heat by removing the seeds or by adding fewer jalapenos. Make the flavor the way that you like and enjoy.

Smoked BBQ Beans

First things first, gather all the ingredients for these Smoked BBQ Beans: Bacon, onion, bell peppers, jalapeños or serrano peppers, garlic, pinto beans, pineapple tidbits, ketchup, brown sugar, honey or maple syrup, yellow mustard, chili powder, and salt.

Smoked BBQ Beans

Start by placing up diced bacon in the bottom of a pan or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook until bacon is nice and crispy, reserving all the drippings in the pan.

Bacon for great flavor

Next, add the onions and peppers, both bell and spicy. Sauté them for about 3 minutes or until they are cooked and tender.

Extra flavor with pepers and onions

Add the garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds or until browned.

Everything is cooking

Now, put in the remaining ingredients except the bacon bits and stir until combined.

Adding rest of ingredients

Add all the bacon back to the pan and give it one more mixing until all combined.

Adding the bacon back to the pot

Pour the beans into a pan large enough to contain the beans ( You can also just leave the beans in the cast iron skill, if you used one).

Ready to bake the beans

Now, to make these beans extra special, we cook them in a smoker, around 225ºF- 250ºF for 2-3 hours. We recommend making these beans when you are already going to smoke some meats on the smoker.

Now to smoke the Smoky BBQ Beans

Here is the finished result of these beans. They go great with other smoked meats such as ribs, brisket, chicken, or turkey. It also goes great as a party side.

Ready to serve
