Delicious sweet treats for two

Sweets and fondue for two

Valentine's day is a good time for two people to enjoy sweet treats, and what better way than with chocolate? This bit of deliciousness starts with a nice fondue of bittersweet and semisweet chocolate with cream and vanilla added for silkiness and flavor. Anything you want can be added to this tray for dipping like cookies, fruit, marshmallows, chocolate dipped pretzels etc. Just set them around your board in empty spaces, kind of like a charcuterie board, only sweet. This is a completely add-what-you-like-to-the-tray kind of dessert board!

Some of the things we made for this were things we like, there were chocolate cupcakes with a rich chocolate bttercrem frosting and red velveet cakes with a cream cheese icing. Any of which can be bought in the store or made with a quick mix, depending on the time that you have. There was also chocolate pudding and creme brulee, that was because I love pudding.

All you have to do is fix a board with the best desserts that you like and fit them to look good. We added a small fondue dish heated by a small tea lite to the board, but you could even us the warmed chocolate in a bowl.

Ingredients

  • Cream- to make the chocolate creamy
  • Salt- as a flavor enhancer

  • Bittersweet chocolate -for a deep chocolate taste

  • Semisweet chocolate-for a sweet chocolate taste

  • Vanilla-just goes with chocolate

Making Chocolate Fondue

In a saucepan heat the cream and salt together until bubbles form around the edges of the pan. Then add the 2 kinds of chocolate and mix till well combined. Now add the vanilla and whisk again. Easy Peasy

Pour into a fondue dish, lite the candle and dip marshmellows, cookies, rice crispie treats or anything tht you like into the warm chocolate.

Now just add your dipping ingredients. These are a few you can use, marshmellows, strawberries, bananas, rice krispie treats, cookies, and chocolate dipped pretzels. We also made miniature chocolate cupcakes, red velvet cupcakes, chocolatepudding, and creme brulee. The puddings helpd fill the board and I love pudding.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • ¾ cups heavy cream
  • pinch of salt
  • 4 oz. bittersweet chocolate, chopped
  • 4 oz. semisweet chocolate, chopped
  • ½ tsp. vanilla

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan add the cream ad salt. Heat until bubbles form on the rim of the saucepan.
  2. add the chocolate and whisk on low heat until the chocolate is all incorporated.
  3. Now add the vanilla and whisk again until smooth and completely mixed.

Notes

You can use any kind of chocolate that you like, doesn't have to be bittersweet and semisweet. I have also used chocolate chips and it works well too.
