Snacks, games and movie night

Hi everyone,

Travis and I know that you all are hanging in there, staying inside and washing your hands about 100 times a day.  Just to let you know using hot water will ruin your hands, make sure the water is warm instead. I know from experience. Also use plenty of hand cream.  Anyway, we are all trying to stay inside most of the time and thinking of things to do. We found a few things that everyone enjoys doing together and they are watching movies and playing games. It is good to do these things, but making the whole night special makes it really fun. You can ask for suggestions or just make what you think everyone will like, it can sometimes have a theme with the movies, like pirates and say fish sticks or a cowboy movie with chili, whatever depends on your imagination. So, enjoy your night of fun and let us know what you do.

So, tonight is movie night in our household and the movie of choice will be ET the extra-terrestrial. This has always been a good show, but one that we haven’t watched in a long time. ET is so likable and the people he gets to know make it a great family movie.

ET first came out in 1982 and is a film that is filled with suspense, sadness, and of course happiness. It is a story that shows courage and kindness to help another. The actors play their parts well showing themselves to be caring family members who are at the ready to make things right.

The director of the movie is Stephen Spielberg, and everyone knows that he is a great director. Many of his movies are a favorite at our house and probably yours too.

Get everyone comfortable, bring out some blankets, turn down the lights and prepare to get lost in a fun movie that will make you glad that you watched it. Don't forget the snacks!

Snacks for the film:

We are going to make chocolate mini cupcakes with peanut butter buttercream icing. To keep with the ET theme of the movie we topped them off with some Reese’s pieces. Really a delicious combination!

Another movie treat tonight is caramel popcorn. Everyone had a container of caramel popcorn to make the show more like a movie theater. The popcorn was made with things in the pantry. We had bags of movie theater popcorn and the caramel for the popcorn was made with brown sugar, butter, baking soda, vanilla, and salt.

Now, we hope this gives you an idea for a fun night with the family. Just pick a good movie or game to play. make some snacks and have a good time. Stay safe
