Raspberry vinaigrette poppy seed dressing makes a great topping for a spinach salad. It gives it a tangy, fruity flavor that pares well with the fruit and spinach in the salad.

This strawberry poppy seed vinaigrette dressing is a winner for spinach salad. It has the fruity-sweet taste of berries and the zing of vinegar. It is very easy to make and takes a short time to put together.

A vinaigrette dressing can be adjusted to suit your taste; make it what you like best. There are many delicious fruits and berries out in the summer. If you are not a raspberry fan, try making it with strawberries; this is another tasty flavor for your salads.

Ingredients

  • Olive oil
  • white vinegar
  • sugar
  • yellow mustard
  • poppy seeds
  • salt
  • pepper
  • red raspberries
  • water

Making the raspberry poppy seed vinaigrette dressing

In a jar or a bowl, mix the olive oil, white vinegar, sugar, yellow mustard, poppy seeds, salt, and pepper. Shake or mix vigorously until everything is combined.

Now, add the raspberries to a pan along with sugar and water. Then, cook the raspberries and sugar down until they become really soft.

Then, put the raspberries in a strainer and push all of the raspberries through, leaving the seeds.

The strained raspberries should be thick and seed free.

Smooth

Now, add the raspberry sauce to the oil and poppyseed dressing, then, shake well until fully incorporated. Chill in the refrigerator.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • ½ cup olive oil
  • 3 Tablespoons white vinegar
  • ⅓ cup plus 1 tablespoon sugar
  • ½ teaspoon yellow mustard
  • 1 ¼ Tablespoons poppy seeds
  • ¼ tsp. salt
  • Cracked pepper to taste
  • 1 cup red raspberries
  • ⅛ cup water
  • 2 teaspoons sugar

Instructions

  1. In a mason jar, add the olive oil, white vinegar, ⅓ cup plus 1 Tablespoon sugar
  2. , yellow mustard, poppy seeds, salt, and pepper. Shake until all mixed. 
  3. In a small saucepan, add the raspberries, 2 teaspoons sugar, and water. Cook till very soft, about 5 minutes
  4. Strain the berries into a bowl and let sit to cool.
  5.  Add the cooled raspberries to the dressing and shake them together.
  6. Put into the refrigerator to chill
