Grilled chicken drumsticks
Chicken is a favorite of ours for barbecuing. These chicken legs we marinated in lemon pepper garlic marinade turn out juicy and flavorful. We just throw together a simple quick marinade with 4 ingredients, add the chicken and let them marinade for about 4 hours (or overnight). You can leave the chicken in the marinade for less time if you need to; they still are really good. All that is left to do is pop them on the grill and turn every five minutes for about 35 minutes.
This is a good choice for company coming over, just put the amount of chicken legs that you need in the marinade and let it do its work flavoring the chicken. Before your guests arrive, you can have those legs on the grill and done, ready to enjoy and as a bonus—not a lot of clean up if you had your chicken in a Ziplock bag!
Making the marinade:
The simple ingredients for the drumsticks are olive oil, minced garlic, lemon pepper, and red chili pepper.
Ingredients for drumsticks
Just take the olive oil, minced garlic, red pepper flakes, and lemon pepper and mix them all together. We just added the ingredients to the measuring cup the had the olive oil in it. No need to use more dishes!
Ingredients for drumsticks mixed
For easy clean up when you are finished, use a ziplock bag. We set the bag into a bowl and poured the marinade into the bag covering the chicken legs. This is just in case the marinade leeks out of the bag.
Pouring lemon pepper mix over chicken legs
Seal the bag and turnover the bag coating the chicken pieces as you do. Put the bag back into a bowl and refrigerate for 4 hours. If you are in a hurry, you can marinade for a shorter amount of time. They are still awesome!
Drumsticks marinating
After your drumsticks have marinated, just put them on direct heat at medium or medium high, depending how hot your grill gets.
Drumsticks on the barbecue
They take about 35 minutes to cook and you should turn them every 5 minutes for 35 minutes.
drumstick browning on the barbecue
Coming to the last 5 minutes of cooking. See how nice and brown they are getting?
Perfectly cooked chicken legs on the barbecue
We served them on a platter with slices of lemon, looks pretty and everyone knows that there is a lemon flavoring in the chicken. Enjoy!
