Hoagie
A hoagie is a sandwich that has a lot going for it. You start with a nice sub roll then fill it with delicious deli meat and vegetables. It is truly a delicious sandwich, a whole meal in itself.
Different parts of the country have different names for this sandwich which has been around for a long time. Up north they are called Hoagies, In the south they are known as sub sandwiches, they are even called Grinders in other parts of the country. It really doesn't matter what you call them they are a good sandwich.
Ingredients
- 1 -7 inch sub roll
- 3 oz. ham, shaved or sliced
- 4 slices of white american cheese
- 4 slices of cooked salami, sliced thin
- lettuce
- tomato
- onion
- mayonnaise
- salt
- pepper
- oregano
Instructions
- Cut the sub roll in half and spread with mayonnaise, a little or a lot depending on your preference. Next fill the bread with ham, salami, cheese. On top of this put on the lettuce, tomato, and sliced onions. Season with salt, pepper, and a little oregano.
Notes
The sandwich is a little versatile in that you can switch american cheese to provolone. If you happen to like more meat or less by all means put on whats right for you. You can also change the mayonnaise to oil or use both. Make the sandwich your own and enjoy it.
I like my ham shaved so that it is all fine pieces, but some like it just in slices from the deli.
