Whenever you are in the mood for a great creamy drink, think of an orange float. Haven't had one of these in quite a while and made one the other day; forgot how tasty they are. Floats have been around for years and can be made from different flavors of soda or syrup. We think the most popular ice cream float is a root beer float they are really delicious. We love them around here when the temperature is very hot; they hit the spot. Every now and then though, it is nice to for a change. You can try any kind of soda that you like, and add some ice cream that you think would taste good with the soda.

Ingredients for the Orange Float:

  • Vanilla ice cream - any good ice cream will do
  • Orange soda - chilled
  • Seltzer water - chilled
  • Sprinkles - optional
  • Cherry - optional
  • Candy Orange - optional

Making the orange float

Ready to make the orange float
Only three ingredients are needed

Start out making this fizzy and creamy orange float with a cold orange soda. Just fill part of the glass with the soda, leaving room for plenty of ice cream.

Adding soda to the glass
Add some soda to the glass

Now, it is time to add the creamy vanilla ice cream to the glass. Scoop about two to three scoops, depending how big your glass is. You can make a small one, if you like, or an even bigger one. The rule is add some soda to the bottom of the glass, then add the ice cream.

The last step is to add some more soda and fill up the glass. Remember that the orange soda is carbonated and will fizz up. If you are not careful, it will fizz up right over the side of the glass!

The float is ready to drink, but now, you can garnish your float with some whipped cream, sprinkles, and of course, a cherry, or a candy orange slice. Enjoy!

  • Candy orange slices, optional

Instructions

  1. In a tall glass, pour some cold orange soda, just to about ⅓ of the glass.
  2. Add 2 to 3 scoops of vanilla ice cream, depending on size of glass.

  4. Add whipped cream to the top.
  5. Decorate with candy orange slices and sprinkles, if you'd like.
