Simple syrup is a great mixture to sweeten any of your drinks. Great for your tea or coffee as well.
This easy simple syrup recipe is helpful to have on hand when you want to sweeten your drinks. The simple syrup is always smooth, so the sugar is always dissolved and you don't have to stir constantly to dissolve sugar at the bottom of your glass.
We were in Thailand several years ago, and at our hotel, they served this sweetener when we ordered iced tea, it was really nice, so we like to do that once in awhile here. However, we find it is more helpful to use simple syrup in a cold drink; dissolves fast.
This easy Simple syrup recipe is just what it says, simple. You use only two ingredients, water and sugar. It is a one-to-one ratio, one cup of sugar and one cup of water. Put in a pan, stir, and cook for 10 minutes. It gives you about 1 ½ cups of syrup; couldn't be any simpler. When you want to sweeten your lemon-limeade or watermelon lemonade, just add the syrup.

Making the simple syrup:
It couldn't be easier, just take a medium sized sauce pan over medium high heat, and add the sugar and water. Stir it up a little and bring to a boil. Turn down the heat to low and let simmer for 10 minutes.
The simple syrup should be slightly thick and no sugar crystals left in the bottom of the pan.
Let the mixture cool, then pour into a container. You can now refrigerate it so you can use it anytime that you want.

- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan over medium high heat, add the sugar and the water. Bring to a boil, stirring a little, then turn down on low to a simmer and cook for 10 minutes. This will dissolve the sugar and thicken the syrup.
- Let the syrup cool, then refrigerate for a few hours or until cold and ready to use.
