Easy Pepper Steak


  • 1 lb. top of the round or top sirloin steak
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vegetable oil
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic salt
  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 cup onions, petal sliced
  • 1 tsp. minced garlic
  • 1 Tbsp. soy sauce
  • 20 oz. beef broth
  • 1 pepper, green, red, or mixed
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 4 Tbsp. cold water
  • Cooked rice, such as white or brown for serving


  1. In a skillet or wok over medium-high heat, heat the vegetable oil for about 1-2 minutes.
  2. To the pan or wok, add the meat, onions, garlic salt, black pepper, and salt. Cook until the meat is cooked.
  3. Add the soy sauce and beef broth and bring to a boil. Turn down the heat, cover and simmer for about 20-25 minutes or until the meat is tender. 
  4. Add the peppers, green, red, or mixed, and cook till slightly tender, about 4-7 minutes.
  5. In a bowl, add the cold water and cornstarch.
  6. Add the cornstarch mix to the meat mixture and bring it back to a boil. Simmer and stir until thickened.
  7. Serve over white or brown rice.
