Carving a watermelon

  • 1 seedless watermelon

  1. Cut the watermelon in half.
  2. Cut each side of the watermelon into 3 or 4 large slices.
  3. Cut each slice into thin triangles.

  1. Cut the ends off of the watermelon so that it sits well on a table without slipping.
  2. With a large knife, slice the rind off of the watermelon in a curved way, following the sides of the watermelon.
  3. Cut the skinned watermelon into large wheel slices.
  4. Cut each wheel into long sticks.
  5. Cut the long sticks into half so they are easy to pick up.
  6. Enjoy!

When picking out a watermelon make sure that it feels heavy. You should also look for yellow o the bottom which means it has been sitting in the field long enough to ripen. This is what we do and the watermelon is always ripe.
