Brown sugar candied carrots this Recipe

These brown sugar candied carrots are sweet and tasty and go well with many dishes. We just cut the carrots into small slices and cook them on the stove for 10 to 15 minutes while the rest of your meal is cooking. Then, add butter and brown sugar, and they are done.

There are many different ways to use carrots in your favorite meals. We use carrots in our chicken pie recipe, pot roast recipe, and in our savory buttered carrots with dill.

Are carrots a favorite vegetable?

We looked it up and found carrots to be one of the top vegetables in this country. They are very versatile vegetables. Not only are they stand-alone veggies, but they are used in many soups and stews. They also are used in salads and cakes.

Carrots are also a favorite because kids can take them to school for a snack, or as a healthy food source since they are loaded with beta carotene. They are also available in different sizes in the store. You can buy shredded or bite-sized pieces for a salad, or regular carrots you can cut up yourself. There are many choices!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • Water (enough to cover the carrots)
  • 3 cups of sliced carrots
  • 2 Tablespoons of butter
  • ⅓ cup packed brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Peel the carrots, then slice them into small circles.
  2. Boil a pan of water over high heat and, when it comes to a boil, add the carrots to the pan of water. Turn the heat down to medium-high heat and cook for about 10 minutes or until the carrots are tender. You can test for doneness by sticking the tip of a knife into the carrots to make sure they are tender.
  3. Now, remove the carrots from the water using a slotted spoon and set aside.
  4. In a large pan, melt the butter over medium-high heat and add the brown sugar. Mix until dissolved. The mixture will be slightly thickened.
  5. Put the carrot circles back into the sugar mixture and stir. Heat until the carrots are hot.
  6. Serve with your favorite meal.
